Futron Corporation: Recipient of the 2007 Workplace Excellence Award

Recognized as an Employer of Choice for Maryland, Futron Corporation is a proud recipient of the 2007-2008 Workplace Excellence Award from the Alliance for Workplace Excellence. This prestigious award is a reflection of a great organization and sets recipients apart as an employer of choice.

Employers residing in the State of Maryland annually apply for the 'Workplace Excellence' Seal of Approval. Award winners must demonstrate outstanding commitment to balanced leadership and the overall success of their workforce.

An Independent Review Panel made up of PhD and Master's level students and professors from various universities review and assesses the applications. Winners are identified based on application criteria, workplace policies and programs, best practices, employee engagement, employee interviews and an onsite visits. The final judgment was based on an overall assessment of the following categories:

  • Inclusive and flexible corporate culture and management practices;
  • Family and employee friendly policies and programs;
  • Strong health and wellness initiatives;
  • Growth and learning opportunities; and
  • Commitment to corporate, social, and civic responsibility

The 2007 'Workplace Excellence' Seal of Approval Recipients represent over one million employees from small, medium and large, private, nonprofit and public sectors. Futron was one of only 59 companies selected for the award.

The awards ceremony was held at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Rockville, Maryland. Ceremonies began with a formal congratulation from the Governor of Maryland, Martin J. O'Malley. The key note speaker, Harry Huston, co-author of the top selling book, Putting Hope to Work, delivered a presentation on organizational development. Some of the other recipients of the Workplace Excellence Award included: Booze Allen Hamilton, SAIC Fredrick, Lockheed Martin Business Process Solutions, Discovery Communications, CarMax and our own EAP vendor Lifework Strategies.

The Alliance for Workplace Excellence, a public, private, nonprofit coalition founded by Montgomery County, Maryland and Discovery Communications, Inc. is committed to building and recognizing "Excellent Places to Work" throughout the State of Maryland.

We are proud of all of the contributions that went into this award and we are motivated to continue to develop an excellent workplace. Many of the programs that were evaluated came from employee suggestions and years of contributions from the employee advisory board. In that sense, the Workplace Excellence Award reflects the heart of our organization - our workforce.
